Maii Waleed is an Egyptian singer, songwriter and musician. She started writing in Arabic at the age of 17 and has been singing and playing in bands like Nail Polish, Mascara, Grin, Samaka and Telepoetic. Her music has been used in soundtracks of short films like: Gozor, Lamba Neon and in a long feature called Microphone by Ahmad Abdallah. She met with Zeid Hamdan, producer and musician from Lebanon, a veteran of Beirut’s growing underground and indie music scene, in 2010 in Cairo, they recorded together her first album Moga (Wave) between Cairo and Beirut. This collaborative album is written and sung by Maii Waleed and produced, recorded and mixed by Zeid Hamdan.
