Khurmo Shirinova was one of Tajikistan’s most popular female singers during the Soviet era.
Khurmo Shirinova was born in 1957 in Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Tajikistan. She was part of the famous ensemble Gulshan, which worked with the best singers of 80s Tajikistan, such as Karamatullo Kurbanov, Tochiddin Muhiddinov and others. Her husband was Gulshan’s drummer, Rustam Rahimov. Khurmo Shirinova was one of Tajikistan’s most popular female singers during the Soviet era, also popular in Iran and Afghanistan. In 1987 Shirinova was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Tajik SSR. She died at young age in the 1980s.
